Secretary for Security TK Lai today strongly condemned protesters' behaviour during yesterday's anti-parallel trade demonstrations.
He told reporters the protesters' behaviour, which included insulting and kicking passersby and shoppers, was unacceptable. He said they abused the right to express their views and broke the law, causing Police to arrest six people.
More arrests are pending.
Noting Internet appeals for people to join a similar protest at Government House on March 15, Mr Lai said Police will take resolute enforcement action to ensure safety and order.
He said the Government respects freedom of expression and assembly, and is taking action against parallel trading activities, including liaising with Mainland authorities to solve problems caused by surging numbers of Mainland tourists.
