Alert issued on email scam

February 18, 2013
The Monetary Authority has issued an alert about an email purporting to be sent from Australia & New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), asking customers to use an embedded hyperlink to connect to a fraudulent website.

The authority said the link is www.vyhlidkaskalsko.cz/wp-content/upgrade/ssl218/inetbank/encrypted-session/session-kr3si5953036pbc-tlsv1sslv3-6fki06485.

The email asks customers to verify their account information by entering their Internet banking account's user name and password.

ANZ has clarified it has not sent the emails and has no connection with the fraudulent website. It does not send emails asking customers to provide their passwords or verify their account information online.

It has reported the case to Police. Anyone who has provided personal information to the website, or conducted financial transactions through it, should contact ANZ on 2176 8888, or Police on 2860 5012.
