The Centre for Food Safety has launched a series of activities to encourage people to develop healthy eating habits by cutting down on salt and sugar.
Speaking at the Food Safety Day 2015 opening ceremony today, the centre's consultant Dr Ho Yuk-yin said excessive dietary salt and sugar intake increases the risk of health problems.
The centre hopes the goal of reducing people's salt and sugar intake will be achieved through tripartite collaboration among the Government, the community and the food trade.
Final judging and the award presentation ceremony for the Salt & Sugar Reduction & Nutrition Labelling Video Competition was also held today.
Participants had to illustrate ways of reducing dietary salt and sugar and how to apply nutrition labelling to reduce salt and sugar intake in people's daily lives.
