The Centre for Food Safety today urged the public not to eat a batch of prepacked raisins, as the product may contain excessive sulphur dioxide.
The product, Nature's Choice Raisins Golden Jumbo, is distributed by the Natural Tea Company (HK) and the affected batch has a best before date of September 30, 2015.
The centre took a sample of the product from a supermarket in Tuen Mun for testing and found it contained sulphur dioxide at a level of 2,900 ppm, exceeding the legal limit of 1,500 ppm.
The centre has instructed the vendor to stop selling the affected batch of the product and recall it.
