The Centre for Food Safety today urged people not to consume a type of prepackaged fish fibres from Taiwan as a sample contained mercury at a level exceeding the legal limit.
The product is BLACK BRIDGE Fried Sword Fish Fibers in a 170g can with a best-by date of December 30, 2014.
The high mercury level was detected in the centre's regular Food Surveillance Programme.
The centre has asked the agent to recall the affected batch, and will inform Taiwan authorities of its finding.
