Philatelists' delight

Philatelists' delight:  A set of special stamps introduces Hong Kong's common weather phenomena.

Stamps to feature weather wonders

March 12, 2014

Hongkong Post will issue a set of special stamps and other philatelic products on March 27, featuring Hong Kong’s weather phenomena.

The collection introduces seven common weather wonders in Hong Kong, including rainbows, frost, clouds, lightning, fog, rain and typhoons.

The stamp on the $20 Stamp Sheetlet shows Typhoon Vicente approaching Hong Kong in July 2012 when Hurricane Signal No. 10 was issued. It is printed in lithography plus lenticular, a technique that creates an illusion of depth and allows viewers to see different images from different angles.

Official first day covers will sell for $1.2 each at all post offices from tomorrow and advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will also be accepted from tomorrow to March 19.
