Anaesthetic gel recalled
May 03, 2013
The Department of Health today instructed a licensed drug wholesaler to recall all flavours of Benzo-Jel Topical Anesthetic Gel.
It is believed the unregistered pharmaceutical products were imported to Hong Kong by Henry Schein Hong Kong Holdings, and supplied to local dentists.
The gel, labelled as containing 20% benzocaine, is used on oral mucosa.
Its side-effects include dizziness, blurred vision, nausea and vomiting.
