Safety alert:  The Centre for Food Safety has called on the public not to consume milk products produced by the Trappist Dairy suspected to have been contaminated with chemicals.

Trappist milk products recalled

December 03, 2011
The Centre for Food Safety today called on the public not to consume milk products produced by the Trappist Dairy suspected to have been contaminated with chemicals.

The affected products are Trappist Dairy Hi-Calcium Low Fat Milk Drink 236ml with a use-by date of 4/12/2011, Trappist Dairy Fresh Milk 236ml with a use-by date of 6/12/2011 and Trappist Dairy Fresh Milk 946ml with a use-by date of 6/12/2011.

Laboratory results showed five of the samples contained toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes.

Although the dietary exposure estimation indicates adverse health effects are unlikely, the centre has instructed the manufacturer to immediately recall all of their paper pack milk products of different flavours and pack sizes as such chemicals should not exist in these milk products.

The company has set up a hotline (2471 9861) for enquiries.
