Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen met Austrian officials and legal professionals in Vienna yesterday.
He met Vice President of the Austrian Federal Bar Association Marcella Prunbauer-Glaser to brief her on Hong Kong's arbitration and mediation sector.
He visited the Vienna International Arbitral Centre and met its President Dr Gunther Horvath.
Mr Yuen told Dr Horvath that given the growth in international trade as well as Central and Eastern Europe's interest in the Belt & Road Initiative, there will be a lot of potential for co-operation between Austria and Hong Kong in arbitration services.
He also met Austrian Secretary-General of the Federal Ministry of Justice Georg Stawa to discuss legal co-operation.
Mr Yuen will attend a congress hosted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law today and speak at the session on "Creative international law-making in the international trade law context".
