CS inspects Kwun Tong District

May 27, 2013
Chief Secretary Carrie Lam visited Kwun Tong District today to see a horticulture therapy programme, the Anderson Road development plan and Lam Tin Complex, and meet with District Council members.

Mrs Lam toured Serene Oasis in Kowloon Bay which provides a horticulture therapy programme by the Christian Family Service Centre, and chatted with seniors.

The Oasis opened in February, the first of its kind in an urban area offering horticulture therapy and meditation services to patients who are in the early stages of dementia or depression, as well as people who are emotionally distressed or with intellectual disabilities.

She inspected the development works at Anderson Road and the Housing, Planning and Civil Engineering & Development Departments briefed her about future planning for the site.

The formed land will be used for public rental housing, schools and recreational and community facilities. From late 2016 to mid-2017, it will provide 18,000 public housing units.

Mrs Lam later visited Lam Tin Complex, which houses a swimming pool, a music centre, a public library, play equipment and leisure and cultural facilities.

She also held met with District Council members on the needs and concerns of local residents, including cultural and community facilities, the pedestrian and transportation network and the "Energising Kowloon East" initiative.
